Dear Saint Joseph Family in Christ,
Welcome to Saint Joseph/Old Mission San Jose and our weekly communication newsletter. I invite you to embrace and share these messages with your family and friends.
Praise the Lord, my soul! Psalm 146
As some of you may be aware, an act of vandalism took place this past Friday on the historic grounds of the Mission and the Dominican Sisters at approximately 3:00 AM. This same group conducted a planned desecration of Mission Dolores in San Francisco and another site in Southern California. The results are criminal and felonious. These cowardly acts of hate and destruction will not be tolerated and we are cooperating fully with the authorities. Please pray for the protection of our church and property.
This is the first weekend of the month and we wish to extend birthday wishes to all those born in the month of November. Happy Birthday to each of you! May God bless you with long life and good health.
November 7 through 13 is National Vocation Awareness Week. Please pray for an increase of vocations for nuns and priests.
Praying is an essential part of our spiritual life yet oftentimes we are so caught up in our own daily routine that we forget to take a moment to pause, reflect and PRAY. How can we help ourselves pray? I have the perfect solution. We all have a common denominator. It's called the cell phone. We carry it everywhere. We talk, text, browse the internet, use it as a flashlight, compass, and calculator, and we even talk to it and ask it questions. Amazingly, it responds to our queries! So why not use it to pray? Please click here for more information on the AMEN app and how to download it on your smart device. While you're waiting for an appointment, sitting in your car, eating lunch or simply relaxing on a park bench, tap the app and you'll have instant access to beautiful prayers, meditations, daily devotionals and Scripture. Use it in the morning when you wake up and in the evening before you go to sleep.
Have you filled out the parish survey yet? Please click here to complete this important 15-minute survey online. For those who do not wish to complete online, a hard/paper copy of the survey is available in the back of the church and Mission for your convenience. We appreciate your time and support of this necessary research.Like our own family life, the pandemic has called for changes in how we live and serve our community neighbors. Please click here for important updates and information on Sister John Marie's Pantry and how we can better serve our brothers and sisters in need.
