Dear Saint Joseph Family in Christ,

Welcome to Saint Joseph/Old Mission San Jose and our weekly communication newsletter.  I invite you to embrace and share these messages with your family and friends.

Today is born our Savior, Christ the Lord.   Psalm 96
Blessed are those who fear the Lord and walk in his ways.   Psalm 128

Merry Christmas!  Our weekend has been filled with beautiful Christmas Masses celebrating the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  Please click here if you missed reading my personal Christmas letter to you.  Today we continue our weekend celebration with the Feast of the Holy Family.  May God continue to bless you and those you love as we move forward through the end of 2021 and ring in the 2022 New Year!

On January 1, 2022, we begin our year-long commemoration of Mission San Jose’s 225th Anniversary.  In 2022 we pay special tribute to the people whose lives shaped our rich heritage starting with the Franciscan missionaries who sowed the seeds of Christian faith that has endured for nearly 225 years.  Please click here to bookmark and check our website for updates and information as the year progresses.

Saint Joseph School is enrolling for the 2022-2023 school year.  We invite you to join us in person for a private, socially distanced campus tour OR on ZOOM for a Virtual Meet and Greet.  Please consider our award-winning school for the full academic and faith formation of your children.  How we prepare our children today will impact them the rest of their lives.  Please click here for specific details and contact information.

Have you ever experienced a life-changing event?  Join fellow Catholics and Pro‐Lifers from all over California and beyond as we stand up for the littlest among us at the 18th Annual Walk for Life West Coast in San Francisco on January 22, 2022.  Please click here for more details and how to register.

Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.   Matthew 25:37-40

2022 is right around the corner and resolutions for the New Year are being pondered by all.  Why wait?  Let's start right now.  Have you thought about joining our Lector Ministry?  Consider allowing God to borrow your voice, to speak through your heart and make His message known.  Our parish is filled with fantastic readers and speakers.  Please share your wonderful talents with us.  Perhaps you have considered being an usher for our people.  Ushers are the friendly face and smile of our community.  They welcome everyone into God's house.  Ushers are instrumental in providing assistance to those receiving Jesus at Communion.  They are your personal concierge at Saint Joseph Church!  These roles are vital and we have an immediate need for both lectors and ushers, particularly at this busy time of year.  Please click here for more information and how to join.

"Blankets of Hope" is an educational nonprofit organization that helps students practice empathy and kindness in an impactful service-learning experience.  Our very own Saint Joseph School, under the leadership of Mrs. Patricia Calton, has committed to this schoolwide Mission Service project.  Please click here for more details on how you can help our students achieve their goals.  Thank you for your support and generosity in the formation of our young people.  They are our future.
