Dear Saint Joseph Family in Christ,

Welcome to Saint Joseph/Old Mission San Jose and our weekly communication newsletter.  I invite you to embrace and share these messages with your family and friends.

May the Lord bless us all the days of our lives.  Psalm 128

The only thing constant is change.  It is with both joy and sadness we bid farewell to Father Mark Ruiz.  After only two+ short years at Saint Joseph, Bishop Michael Barber has appointed Father Mark to Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Brentwood effective Friday, October 1.  We honor and thank Father Mark for his spiritual leadership, love, great humor and generosity.  We pray for Father Mark in his new assignment and invite him to come back and visit us at any time.  We will deeply miss him.

Thank you to the Filipino Community of Saint Joseph for sharing their tradition and culture celebrating the Feast of San Lorenzo Ruiz and San Pedro Calungsod at the 5:30 PM Vigil Mass last weekend.  The liturgy and music were exceptional and honored two very special saints and martyrs.  We are blessed to experience the sacred reverence of our rich cultural diversity.

Thank you for your generous support of the Haiti Disaster Relief second collection last weekend.  Your generosity influences and assists our Haiti brothers and sisters in their critical time of need.  You are the hands and feet of Jesus.  Thank you for your selfless acts of kindness and generosity.

In honor of the Feast of Saint Francis of Assisi, we will have Blessing of the Animals this Sunday, October 3 at 2:00 p.m. on the Mission Steps.  All animals are welcome.

First Wednesday of the Month Mass, Devotion to Saint Joseph, is on October 6 at 7:00 PM in the Mission.  Please come to honor and celebrate this very special man and saint.  The Mass will be bilingual and feature the Adult and Vietnamese Multi-Cultural Choirs.

Please join us for a special Mass at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, October 13, to honor the final apparition of Our Lady of Fatima. This multilingual Mass will conclude with a candlelight procession to the Mission where we will pray the Litany to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Mass will be preceded by the recitation of the Rosary and confession at 6:30 PM.

We invite you to join our newly formed Young Adult Ministry.  If you are single between 19 and 35 years of age, please contact me or our Director of Youth Ministries, Jimmy Garcia.  Looking forward to getting to know you better!
